KC Select Tryouts 2010

Tryouts are quickly coming upon us.  For the 3rd straight year the KC Select Soccer Club will be renting the KC Sports Lodge for tryouts.  All teams in the club are entitled to two 1-hour tryouts on a half field - paid for by the club.  June 12th is the first day that tryouts may be conducted.  KC Select teams have the opportunity to use KC Sports Lodge on the two weekends June 12-13th and June 19-20th.  If you would like additional times and or a different locations, it will be up to you to arrange.

Space is limited and teams will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis.  Some teams will need to conduct their tryouts on Sunday as Saturday will be full.  FYI - the World Cup match between the USA and England is on June 12th, so if you want to watch it live, you may want to avoid those times.

Schedule Tryouts Today!  To schedule your times and dates, please email
Mike@kcsportslodge.com and provide several options or time frames that will work for you.  Mike will schedule you, confirm your times for you and send a copy of those times to the webmaster@kcsportslodge.com .  You can also send the webmaster any other additional times and dates that your team will be conducting tryouts so that it can be posted on the club website www.kcselect.org .

Tryout Tips:
Manager's Be Prepared:  The manager should help organize the tryout by being prepared.  There are a few resources available to you on the KC Select website under the tryouts heading:
http://www.kcselect.org/Tryouts/tabid/5722/Default.aspx .  Here you will find samples and forms for your use:  Tryout Player Info Sheet, Estimate of Fees (you will need to adjust for your team), 10 Commandments of Soccer for Parents, and the Uniform Order sheets.

Be prepared to answer questions about fees and player commitments.  It is always good to have the managers and coaches talk to the parents regarding the expectations of behavior and financial commitment.  Their is a financial assistance program for familiies that are in need - on website under "parents".  It is very important to clearly print out the expectations for their behavior - "no coaching from the sideline".  Lay the foundation early and enforce the rule.

Uniforms:  Under the Apparel website tab, you will notice we have added an additional custom jersey to the mix.  With the club growing and having multiple teams in divisions,  a 3rd option was added to give us a little more variety.  We now have custom Kits that include:  Red, navy and white jerseys with navy or white shorts.  Socks remain the same in either red or white.  In addition, the core Adidas Squadra jerseys/shorts are still available.  You can pick any uniform combinations that your team would like.  Some teams are going with two of the custom options, some teams are picking one custom option and using the squadra as a secondary uniform, they all seem to match close enough so select the uniform combination that best fits the needs of your team.
